We had a fun time down at the lake attempting to "camp out". We had hotdogs, smores, and Mountain Dew! The problem was that this Mama didn't quite realize what the ramifications would be for feeding chocolate and Mountain Dew to 4 children at 8:00 at night!!! Yikes!!! Needless to say, the sleeping in the tent part didn't happen (besides the fact that Don was pretty sick with a bad cough), so we got part of the experience but not all. By 2:00 a.m. we had all given up and were tucked into our own beds! We are planning to attempt it again pretty soon and are hoping to travel away from the property after we get the hang of it. The long-term goal is to do a road trip possibly next year since hotels are sort of out of the question for the 6 of us. Staying in a tent can be quite economical and the majority of the family has not seen Mt. McKinley or been to Fairbanks yet, so it sounds like a good plan anyway. This time I'll remember to leave the Mountain Dew at home!! :)

What fun! A real tent and everything! It's the season for it, or at least the calendar says so. :)
