Our December: Part 2

With December being such a busy month, it is difficult to emphasize the meaning of why we do what we do. We have traditions, but many times the tradition is clouded by the "fluff and stuff" of other things. This Hanukkah, we had a celebration time with dear friends and one activity that was particularly meaning is pictured here:

In a simple act of choosing to do something outwardly to purpose to do something inwardly, we poured olive oil into a glass of water showing how we are in the world, but not of the world. We are called to be like this oil, not letting our surroundings dictate to us how to act and be, but more importantly remember who we are and even more importantly WHOSE we are! We celebrate the freedom we have to worship and follow our God the way that we feel He is calling us to every time we celebrate Hanukkah. It is a declaration that God did miraculous things for those who came to dedicate a worship place that had been defiled by the heathens. It is embracing our need to be light in a very dark world. It is (for our family) a celebration of the Light of the World - Yeshua!
