Backwards Day

After getting behind in my planning and preparing for school one day, I woke up to the idea that we could have a backwards day to allow for some prep time! Since we usually do the "seatwork" subjects right after breakfast and devotions, we had the afternoon activities put into that slot. We have a rule that during the week, the TV and video games do not get used until after 4:30 p.m. This particular day, the TV and video game slot worked out perfectly for me to figure out what cool things we could do during "project time" and get the kiddos paperwork at their desks for "seatwork time". It was great! The children went for their "outdoor time" right before lunch as usual since that ended up being the middle of the routine, and we got to the more specific school stuff after lunch. It worked for me.....maybe it'll encourage someone else out there who struggles with sticking to some sort of routine and needs some wiggle room once in a while. :)

Nice idea, just enough to shake up the schedule and keep it fresh for the kids. I'm still hoping to get a day (ok, a few hours!) to do some serious cleaning out and planning. Want some kids for a day? ;)
