Summer Beauty
Here are a few samples of the beautiful sites that we enjoy along our driveway and in the woods. The smell of the wild roses is almost intoxicating! The honeybees have quite a job gathering as much as they can during this short season of plenty. Our neighbor, Ray (the kiddos call him "Grandpa Ray") has been trying to help the bees winter-over by covering the hives with snow throughout the long winter to help insulate them. He's had a small number make it through, but is working on new tactics to get a method figured out. The bees don't seem to bother any of us and there's a fence around the hives so that a curious bear can't get himself into trouble. It's a great learning opportunity for the children and Grandpa Ray is a great teacher when they ask him questions.
